Are you looking for fun & entertaining things to do in Central OH this December? 

December days are short and sometimes cold - but festive lights sparkle across the city, winter activities move into high gear, and holiday shoppers fill the streets and stores. 

Holiday themes dominate Columbus theater and holiday concerts are all over the calendar this month!

Take a peak at 10 events you should check out this month below!

 1. Holiday Pops

When: December 1st & 2nd from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM

Where: Ohio Theatre || 39 E. State St., Columbus, OH 43215

Admission: $20-68

What: A great annual Columbus tradition continues as Ronald J. Jenkins leads the Columbus Symphony and Chorus in some of the season's most-loved holiday songs and carols. Santa will also stop by to help spread the holiday cheer! 

Featuring: Ronald J. Jenkins as Conductor, The Columbus Symphony Chorus, The Columbus Symphony Orchestra, The Columbus Children's Choir, Jeanne Wohlgamuth as Artistic Director, Justin Gibbs and Joanie Evans as dancers,BalletMet Academy Dancers, Steven Crawford as narrator, and Santa and Mrs. Claus

2. WinterFest

When: December 2nd, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Where: Bicentennial Park

What: A celebration of giving featuring local and national musical acts, seasonal ales from hometown breweries and favorite dishes from Columbus food trucks to kick off the illumination of lights along the Scioto Mile.

3. Holiday Tour of Homes

When: December 2nd from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Where: 8070 Tartan Fields Drive, DublinOH 43017

Admission: $25 - $30

What: Get in the holiday spirit and see how fellow Dublin residents deck their halls. The 13th Annual Holiday Tour of Homes, presented by the Junior League of Columbus will take place Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 12pm-5pm. Each year, the tour allows members of the community an opportunity to tour and admire area homes decorated for the holidays.

Attendees will check-in for the tour at Tartan Fields Golf Club: 8070 Tartan Fields Drive, Dublin, OH 43017. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, so purchase your tickets today. Save by buying 5 tickets for $100 and bring four friends!

Proceeds from the Holiday Tour of Homes support the programs and mission of the Junior League of Columbus, which are focused on family self-sustainability, including the donation of thousands of backpacks to children in need in central Ohio.

4. Village Lights

When: December 3rd, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Where: German Village || 588 S. Third St., Columbus, OH 43215

What: Twinkling luminaries greet visitors from across Central Ohio who are ready to kick off the holiday on the historic streets of German Village! Enjoy the magic of the holidays and visit shops, businesses and restaurants open late with holiday treats, discounts and special offers. Festive surprises are at every corner including carolers, live holiday music and Munich-inspired Striezelmarkt complete with vendors and gluwein.



5. Wildlights  

When: Dec 1st through Dec. 31st, 2017

Where: Columbus Zoo and Aquarium

What: Central Ohio's favorite family holiday tradition features millions of LED lights, animated musical light shows, Santa, reindeer and other holiday festivities.


6. Madeline's Christmas

When: December 8th through December 17th, 2017

Where: Columbus Performing Arts Center || 549 Franklin Ave, Columbus, OH 43215

Admission: $10-15

What: A holiday musical treat for the whole family adapted from Ludwig Bemelmans' delightful book! While on their morning walk with Miss Clavel, the girls come down with the flu, and as they take to their beds, many wonder if they will be able to go home for Christmas. When a mysterious stranger arrives, Madeline and friends get a holiday adventure beyond their wildest dreams. Book and lyrics by Jennifer Kirkeby; music by Shirley Mier. Based on the book by Ludwig Bemelmans.

7. Amy Grant & Michael W. Smith

When: December 15th, 2017 from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM

Where: Nationwide Arena || 200 W. Nationwide Blvd., Columbus, OH 43215

Admission: $0-100

What: Multi-platinum, GRAMMY winners Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith co-headline their popular Christmas tour joined by Jordan Smith, Season 9 winner of NBC's "The Voice." Incorporating a full symphony orchestra under the direction of Musical Director and Conductor David Hamilton, this seasonal crowd-pleaser stops at Nationwide Arena in Columbus on Friday, December 15, 2017. Combining for a vast collection of critically-acclaimed holiday albums between them, the tour will showcase selections spanning the artists' expansive Christmas repertoires.


8. Mr. Scrooge

When: November 24th through December 23rd
               Recurring weekly on Sunday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Where: Columbus Children's Theatre || 512 Park Street, Columbus, OH 43215

Admission: $13 - $26

What: A tradition returns to Columbus Children's Theatre this holiday season with Mr. Scrooge, written by CCT's Artistic Director William Goldsmith. This is the story you know and love presented in a family-friendly, hour-long performance. Join Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit, Jacob Marley, and dozens of other colorful characters as we watch Ebenezer Scrooge change his ways when he learns the true meaning of Christmas. Bring your entire family and see how this heart-warming classic fills audiences with joyous holiday spirit!

9. The Nutcracker

When: December 8th through December 24th, 2017

Where: Ohio Theatre || 39 E State St, Columbus, OH 43215

Admission: Buy Tickets Here

What: Create everlasting memories for you and yours with the magical return of The Nutcracker. Sparkling snow, charming characters, and wonderful surprises come to life as Clara and her Nutcracker Prince travel through the luminous Land of the Sugar Plum Fairy. A production co-created by Gerard Charles and Robert Post, this holiday classic also features live music from the Columbus Symphony and is sure to enchant everyone in the beautiful seats of the Ohio Theatre.



10. First Night Columbus

When: December 31st, 2017 from 5:00 PM to Midnight

Where: Throughout Downtown Columbus

What: A spectacular New Year’s Eve celebration in downtown Columbus with fireworks, live entertainment, activities and fun for all ages!
